You’re interested in playing poker with an online poker bonus, but you’re not exactly sure how they work. Using online poker bonuses is not only simple, but an important element of successful online poker play. How they work depends on the type of bonus you have.

Match Bonus

A match bonus works as a percentage of the amount you deposit. If it is a 100 percent match, you get your entire deposit matched as a bonus. In most cases, there will be a limit on how much you can deposit that will be eligible for the bonus. You will also have to play a prescribed number of hands to clear this bonus. Sign up bonuses, which encourage you to join a new site, and loyalty bonuses, which encourage you to stay there, are most often match bonuses.

Fixed Bonus

A fixed bonus is a flat amount. You can receive a fixed bonus for something like referring somebody new to a site. These bonuses are the same amount regardless of your deposit. However, you (or your referral if it is a referral bonus) must input the bonus code on the deposit screen to receive the bonus.

Freeroll Bonus

Some bonuses may come in the form of free entry to a tournament. These types of bonuses, come most often as sign up bonuses, and you may have to make a choice between the cash sign up bonus and free entry to a tournament. These tournaments will generally have bigger prizes than a typical freeroll if this is the case.

This site was launched way back when online poker was a in its infancy. When people searched the web to find out how to play the game everybody was talking about. Nowadays most people know the rules of Texas Holdem and they might even grasp the finer details like implied odds, positive expectation, folding equity and other more advanced aspects of this simple card game.

As a result of this, I’ve decided to broaden Poker Rules Directory with a brand new blog. In the blog, I’ll give you advice on how to build an online-poker bankroll, and more importantly, how to make the money grow. Often it actually takes more than just being a skilled player. To maximize the profit you need to choose the best poker site, i.e. weakest opponents and best bonus offers.

My advice to you is that you think before you choose a poker site and take a seat at a virtual poker table. Don’t do it randomly. Make sure you can beat the game before you sit down.

How that is done? Hang on. I’ll give you a couple of clues.
